Task Force for the Payments System Review (TFPSR)

Pat was the Chair of the Task Force for the Payments System Review, which submitted its final report to the Minister of Finance on the future of the Canadian payments system in December 2011.

Pat is a Senior Advisor to financial services and technology companies and their Boards both with Monitor Group and as an independent advisor. Her work has covered issues ranging from strategic governance and organizational design to corporate and business unit strategy within the financial services and technology industries. For more than ten years, Pat has facilitated Strategic Choice Structuring for senior executives in government, not-for-profit, public and private organizations, including CPP Investment Board, the TSX Group and other major financial institutions. Most recently, she has been engaged in aspects of the technology industry, including information, medical and mortgage technology.

Pat was formerly Executive Vice-President of Corporate Strategy and a member of the Senior Management Team for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. In this capacity, she was intimately involved in the development and implementation of strategies for corporate, investment and retail banking, credit cards, payments, mortgages, insurance, wealth management, back office processing, e-commerce and corporate center. In addition, she was responsible for strategic mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and new business development. In this role and as a highly ranked Financial Services Industry Investment Analyst with CIBC Wood Gundy Inc., Pat has written a number of comprehensive studies on the Canadian banking, investment management, insurance and brokerage industries and their participants.

Pat has since received a Doctor of Philosophy (Business Administration) from the Schulich School of Business, rounding out a Masters in Business Administration (Management Information Systems) from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Mathematics (Computer Science) from the University of Waterloo. In 1994 she was named a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accounts. Pat qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1977 and as a Certified Management Accountant in 1983. For the past ten years, she has taught strategic management, both at the Rotman School of Management and the Schulich School of Business.
