James Wills

Business Manager, Banking Initiatives
SWIFT

James Wills is a senior business manager and the market/standards representative for the North American Market as part of the Banking Initiatives Team for SWIFT Americas. Based in New York, Mr. Wills works closely with a variety of standards-setting bodies, trade associations and member communities on standardization issues in financial market areas including compliance, payments, cash management, and trade finance.

Mr. Wills joined SWIFT in 2006 as Head of Trade Standards Development responsible for SWIFT implementation in conjunction with UCP 600 and SWIFT TSU (Trade Services Utility) message development. He has held the industry banking initiatives role for several years.

Prior to joining SWIFT, Mr. Wills worked as the global Anti-Money Laundering Business Line manager for Fortent, a privately held software company. Previously, he worked as a Senior Vice President with Union Bank of California where he had responsibilities in the areas of compliance, trade, payments, cash management and sales.

Mr. Wills earned a B.A. degree from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, and an M.A. from the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona.
