Bill Huzar

Mr. Huzar is a founding member of the Consumers Council of Canada, Past President and Chair of the Consumer Protection Committee of the Council. He spent twenty-eight years in the Ontario Secondary School system as a teacher and a union executive officer. He has extensive experience in labour negotiations, communications and mediation. Mr. Huzar was a founding member of the National Fraud Prevention and Awareness Campaign, the Anti-Spam Taskforce, and the Identity Theft Kit for Business Taskforce. Bill is a consumer representative to the Canadian Standards Association, the Canadian Payments Association, the Standards Council of Canada and Consumer Protection BC. Mr. Huzar has been a Canadian civil society representative to the OECD internet economy conferences in Washington D.C. and Seoul, Korea.

In Victoria, BC, Mr. Huzar was founding President and Chair of the Foundation for Arts Sustainability in Victoria, a director of the South Island Dispute Resolution Centre Society, the St. John’s Court Society and is Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Volunteers Association, Correctional Services Canada.

Mr. Huzar and his wife live in Oak Bay.
